Tobago Expands Scarborough Terminal for Larger Ships

The Tobago House of Assembly announced the grand opening of the Scarborough Jetty in Tobago. The $2.7 million expansion project will facilitate larger cruise ships and encourage more cruise lines to include Tobago on their itinerary. The Jetty can now accommodate cruise ships up to the Voyager-class that accommodate up to 3,114 passengers. "Tobago is now a platinum member of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association," said Neil Wilson,
Tobago House of Assembly tourism secretary. "The Scarborough Jetty will give the island every chance to grow and prosper within the cruise industry as the lines continue to expand their fleet and seek new and unique destinations."

Tobago features the Main Forest Ridge Rainforest, named the World's Leading Ecotourism Destination by The World Travel Awards four consecutive years in a row. It is the oldest rainforest preserve in the Western Hemisphere and home to a diverse biological eco-system. Little Tobago Island, a 250-acre wildlife sanctuary, is home to the Red Billed Tropic, Brown Booby and myriad hummingbirds. Argyle Waterfalls featuring nature trails sheltered by tall trees and bamboo groves. Tobago is located in the southeastern region of the Caribbean and is sister island to Trinidad.
