Princess Cruises Sponsors Sheriff’s Community Toy Drive

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (December 20, 2007) - Princess Cruises helped to make the holidays a little brighter for local families through its support of the SCV Sheriff’s Department 2007 Community Toy Drive. In addition to a financial contribution of $4,000, proceeds from an employee activity, a team of more than 80 employees participated as volunteer gift wrappers during the toy drive over the weekend of December 15-16 at College of the Canyons.

Princess Cruises President Alan Buckelew Senior Vice President Jan Swartz and Vice President Julie Benson presented the donation check to Captain Anthony La Berge and Community Relations officer Sergeant Gregg Lewison from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Each year, the Sheriff’s Department partners with area service organizations and school districts to identify local families in need. New, unwrapped toys and other gifts are collected during the holidays throughout the community. Qualified families are given vouchers that are redeemable for gift items at the toy drive. Last year, more than 6,500 toys and gifts were donated and over 900 local families were served.

"The holidays are a perfect time of the year to give thanks for our families, friends, health and hometown community," commented Buckelew. "On behalf of our employees, Princess Cruises is pleased to be able to personally reach out to our neighbors who may be in need during this season."
